Description of Work      

Lead efforts to establish and provide campus-wide training and professional development for Academic Advisors, Career Advisors/Coaches, as well as campus partners, faculty, staff, and students on advising/career related services, systems, resources, policies and procedures. Reporting to the Director of University Advising and Career Services, the Coordinator will integrate the connected and overlapping impact of academic advisors and career advisors/coaches on students. Will design training and professional development by closely collaborating with leaders in the advising and career development communities. Audiences will include both new and experienced staff. Serves as an active member of leadership committees in both communities.

Training will leverage and promote the centrally coordinated and de-centrally delivered model of academic advising and career development at the University. The coordinator will align training and professional development activities with best practice standards and competencies as articulated by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), the National Association for Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Council for the Advancement of Standards (CAS) in Higher Education. The coordinator will engage in assessment of training/professional development and may assist in the provision of 1:1 advising/coaching services during high traffic times.

Minimum Required Qualifications          

Master’s degree plus four years of related experience in higher education required. Experience in advising/career coaching related areas, such as student affairs will be highly considered. Evident of 1:1 student interaction/advising necessary. Must have demonstrated organizational, time management, writing, and public speaking skills. Experience must demonstrate as ability to learn extensive requirements, policies and procedures, and use of various student information systems and platforms.

Preferred Qualifications              

Experience providing developmental training to professionals preferred. Ability to evaluate programs and initiatives helpful. Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating across departments desirable. Prefer instructional design and technology proficiency.
