View: Scholarship Application (pdf document)

PURPOSE
The purpose of the ASTD-Lincoln Scholarship Fund is to encourage the professional development of its members.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be a member of ASTD-Lincoln and demonstrate a need for funds.

ALLOCATION
For 2008, ASTD-Lincoln has allocated funds to support the scholarship program. No monies will be carried over into the next calendar year.

AWARDING OF FUNDS
The allocation is divided into separate plans.

  1. A maximum of $1,000 will be awarded to applicants (not to exceed $200 per applicant), based on need, for registration fees to attend the ASTD–Lincoln Big Event, all ASTD certification conferences, ICE, ALC, etc. Registration fees and deadlines subject to ASTD National guidelines.
  2. Any monies not used by members in Plan A will be added to the $1,000 allocated for other professional development opportunities, such as education and workshops not sponsored by ASTD. These funds will be awarded to applicants in variable amounts (not to exceed $200 per applicant) based on need. Funding may be used for tuition for a HRD-related course at an accredited educational institution or for registration fees for a HRD-related workshop, seminar, or conference.

PROCEDURE
The applicant must complete the ASTD-Lincoln Scholarship Application form. The applicant must describe the professional development activity for which they are requesting funds and demonstrate how the activity will enhance their professional growth. Documentation, such as a copy of the course/workshop registration form or tuition statement, must be attached to the application. Applications may be submitted any time during the year. All applications will be considered unless funds are no longer available for disbursement. A minimum of 15 days must be allowed for review of the application and awarding of funds by the Scholarship Committee (comprised of five ASTD-Lincoln members). An applicant can receive one scholarship award per calendar year.
